About Research & Development

Research & Development Cell

The Research and Development (R&D) Cell was established with the objective of fostering and overseeing the advancement of research activities within the college. It actively encourages students to engage in research endeavors by offering necessary guidance and training. The primary goal of the R&D Cell is to cultivate a robust research culture within the institute, particularly focusing on emerging and challenging domains in engineering, technology and sciences. Special assistance is provided to faculty members in preparing research proposals as needed. The cell promotes and supports research ventures in various interdisciplinary fields, spanning engineering, technology, sciences and humanities. This initiative enriches the research capabilities of aspiring technocrats through participation in conferences, seminars, workshops and project competitions.

Objectives of R&D

1. Research Excellence: Foster a vibrant research ecosystem that promotes high-quality research across various engineering disciplines, leading to the generation of new knowledge, patents, and intellectual property.

2. Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Encourage a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among faculty and students, empowering them to develop and commercialize breakthrough technologies and start-ups that address real-world challenges.

3. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Promote collaboration among different engineering departments and across other disciplines, such as science, technology and social sciences, to address complex problems and promote holistic solutions.

4. Industry Partnerships: Establish strong ties with industry leaders, fostering collaborative research and development projects that bridge the gap between academia and industry, and facilitate technology transfer.

5. Skill Development: Provide a conducive environment for students and researchers to acquire and enhance their technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for successful careers in academia, industry, or entrepreneurship.

Brief Profile:

Dr. A SAIRAM VIKAS, Associate Professor and R&D Director is a dynamic and multi talented personality with research orientation. He obtained his Doctoral degree from AU, Visakhapatnam. He is also having 14 years of Teaching and Research experience. He has 20 International and National Publications/ Conference proceedings to his credit and guided many PG and UG students’ projects. He also organized and participated in number of National & International Seminars / Conferences and Workshops. He is a Chartered Engineer and Approved valuer for Plant and Machinery. He is life member of Institute of Engineers (India). His research interests are Powder metallurgy, friction stir and Welding Corrosion etc.

Roles & Responsibilities

The Director of Research and Development (R&D) will receive assistance from a faculty member designated as the "R&D Coordinator," appointed from each department. Their role entails providing timely R&D-related information from their respective departments and aiding in the effective execution of the Director responsibilities.

The Director of Research and Development (R&D) will support the principal in various capacities including:

  1. Facilitating the successful implementation of Sponsored Projects.

  2. Approving faculty members' participation in Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), workshops, Short Term Training Programs (STTPs), conferences, etc.

  3. Encouraging and motivating faculty and students to adopt innovative approaches within their areas of interest.

  4. Implementing the Institute's reimbursement policy.

  5. Promoting staff registration in various professional bodies and overseeing their activities within the college.

  6. Offering guidance for the submission of proposals to funding agencies as needed.

  7. Assisting faculty/students in drafting research articles and filing patents when necessary.

  8. Establishing and maintaining a database of faculty expertise and their publications.

  9. Developing rules for industrial-sponsored research and consultancy on a case-by-case basis.

  10. Serving as a liaison between the industry and the institute to facilitate interaction processes.

  11. Undertaking any other R&D-related tasks as assigned by the Principal/Management.
